A long tradition

When Dr. MacKenzie Douglas opened Village Family Dental in Multnomah Village in 2011, she was inheriting a long tradition of community oral care at the corner of 31st and Capitol Highway. The previous owner of her building was Dr. Philip Dougherty,  who had practiced in that location since the early 60’s.  A lot has changed, both in the neighborhood and in dentistry - Dr. Douglas has invested a lot of time and energy into making the practice her own.

Natural finishes and comforting design

At Village Family Dental, you will immediately feel at ease and at home. Dr. Douglas has blended state-of-the-art equipment and techniques with natural interior finishes of wood and cork. They have sourced the majority of their dental equipment from Adec, which is a long-time family-owned dental company in her hometown of Newberg, Oregon. Their Adec dental chairs (along with the comfy neck pillows and blanket that they offer) are so comfortable that many of their patients find themselves taking a nap during their dental visits.

The small team at Village Family Dental fosters an environment tailored to families and the care of young and the young at heart. "We see a lot of active senior citizens in this neighborhood, but we also see a lot of kids and young parents. It runs the gamut - we're happy to serve the whole family!"    

Part of the community

In the past few years, Dr. Douglas, her family, and her work family have seamlessly become part of the Multnomah community. From passing out the largest candy bars at Halloween (yep, couldn't help themselves!) to passing out toothbrushes during the Multnomah Days Parade. We have also done many visits to local schools and classrooms to provide dental care education to kids in the local community.
